A Close Look at BPEL
sponsored by IBM
|
|
BPEL is an XML-based language that defines the execution of a business process. It is used to implement a particular flow through computer services. Now an OASIS standard, BPEL grew out of separate initiatives at IBM, Microsoft, and BEA to create an orchestration language for business processes. In this screencast Peter Varhol describes the background of BPEL and the part it plays in Business Process Management. Then he describes the basic elements of programming with BPEL. In this screencast you will:
- Learn how to define a BPEL activity by setting up an initial event handler
- Discover why BPEL is better thought of as a description language than a programming language
- Learn what is needed to map BPMN to BPEL
